TERM 3 - WEEK 6 - THE LITTLE RED HEN

This term we are exploring The Little Red Hen during our storytelling sessions.  
We have:
 heard the story, 
mind-mapped the story
sequenced the story
stepped out the story
found nouns and adjectives in the story
mood mapped the story
retold the story
and on Friday we made some bread.
Room 6 were very good and they helped Mrs Bancroft.
Here are our bread making photos:

 Utensils & Recipe on the IPad
Warm water

Yeast

Tablespoon

1 Tablespoon of Yeast

Warm Water in bowl

2 Tablespoons of Sugar

Mix together and leave for 1 hour until it bubbles and goes frothy

1 Tablespoon of Oil

1 cup of flour

... 2 cups of flour ...

Stir and another 1/2 cup of flour

another 1/2 cup of flour ...

another 1/2 cup of flour ...

another 1/2 cup of flour - total of 4 cups of flour

Give it a good stir

Knead it

more kneading ... and more kneading by lots of of Room 6 children

Leave it for about a hour to rise in a warm place
(we improvised and it sat on a crockport set on low - it worked!!)

More kneading - all the children kneading their dough for about 8 minutes.

Buns in the oven.

First batch

2nd batch.
Result delicious, scrumptious, soft and fresh smelling hot buns.
